MumSafe™️ offers ongoing education to fitness professionals that work with mothers and connects them with mums themselves via the mumsafe website.

Pre and postnatal fitness specialist and founder of MumSafe, Jen Dugard (pictured below), has 15 years’ experience in the fitness industry and recognised the need to consider the special needs of mums looking to exercise during and  post pregnancy.

In 2016, the Australian Bureau of Statistics reported that 77% of women over the age of 15 in Australia are mothers - this equates to 3.34million of women in our gyms and exercise facilities being mothers (compared to the 3.5million men).

Dugard advised “I started MumSafe™ due to the lack of trusted and certified training options for mums-to-be and mums of all ages and stages. The existing market was crammed with providers peddling programs that were driven by purely aesthetic goals like ‘getting you back to your pre-baby body’ while completely forgetting about the holistic needs of each individual woman in front of them and that Motherhood is for her whole life ahead.”

Dugard trains the trainers in how to work with mums safely and effectively through her Safe Return to Exercise certification. She is on a mission to ensure all women and trainers alike have the insights and tools they need for lifetime of fitness and movement.

“When working with mums, it’s essential to understand that pregnancy itself (as exciting as it is!) is tough on the body. As is giving birth and everything that follows… Because of that, it’s essential to have a total understanding of what the body and mind goes through during that time which is where MumSafe™ comes in,” added Dugard.

 MumSafe™ trainers are:

• Certified in Safe Return to Exercise - which means they are certified in working with mums
• Hold the correct insurance to be working with mums
• Work hand in hand with women's health physiotherapists to ensure the best possible care
• Aligned and registered with an industry registration body such as AUSactive or Exercise New Zealand
• Committed to ongoing education in working with women and mums
• Currently, MumSafe™ trainers are located across Australia in NSW, QLD, WA, ACT, SA, TAS as well as in New Zealand, and Singapore.
