Multi million dollar facelift for Mount Annan Leisure Centre

Multi million dollar facelift for Mount Annan Leisure Centre
May 11, 2016

Camden Council’s Mount Annan Leisure Centre is to get a $13.65 million upgrade to cater for usage by the area’s fast increasing population.

Work is already underway on a new sports hall with two multipurpose indoor courts (for sports like basketball, futsal and netball), expanded creche facilities, an upgraded kiosk, service desk and entry foyer, new showers and toilets and upgrades to existing showers and toilets, and 130 additional car parking spaces.

Designed by architects the Facility Design Group and being built by ADCO Construction, the redevelopment is expected to be completed next year.

Camden Mayor Lara Symkowiak told local media “with new developments going up in our growing areas it is important to make sure our existing areas are receiving the best facilities too.

“I think a lot of people lead very busy lives and work long days and people and need a place where they can spend some free time. I expect the leisure centre will be used by people all across Macarthur, not just Mount Annan.”

The upgrades are stage two of the original 1998 masterplan when the facility was first constructed.

These upgrades will also be completed in two stages, with Mayor Symkowiak calling them stages 2a and 2b.

Stage 2a will see the completion of the new car park and sports hall and is expected to be delivered by November this year.

Stage 2b involves the upgrades of and expansions within the existing centre and should be completed by September next year.

During stage 2b, some health and fitness facilities will be relocated to the newly constructed sports hall to ensure residents can still utilise the centres services.

The facility is managed by the YMCA NSW.
