Madame Tussauds Singapore opens at Sentosa Island
Opening to the public for the first time on Saturday (25th October), visitors thronged to the new Madame Tussauds Singapore on Sentosa Island.
Located at the Imbiah Lookout on Sentosa, the new attraction is Merlin Entertainments seventh Madame Tussauds in Asia, and the first to have a water boat ride – the four-minute ‘Spirit of Singapore’ experience.
The Spirit of Singapore takes visitors on a journey celebrating the sights of Singapore, from Marina Bay Sands to the Singapore Flyer, Botanical Gardens and the F1 night race circuit.
The attraction, which originated in London, is famous for having life-like wax statues of celebrities, politicians and royalty. It has 18 branches around the world including six in the USA and four in China.
More than 60 wax figures feature in Madame Tussauds Singapore, including Hollywood actors such as Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, as well as sports stars such as football David Beckham, basketball player Yao Ming and golf legend Tiger Woods.
Singaporean identities including former Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew, his late wife Kwa Geok Choo, footballer Fandi Ahmad and singer Stefanie Sun.
Opening day celebrations did suffer a hitch when the Spirit of Singapore was shut down due to a technical issue.
However, guests who could not take the four-minute boat ride, were given free tickets to visit the attraction again.
