Lifebuoy commits to bringing sporting events back safely

Lifebuoy commits to bringing sporting events back safely
March 12, 2021

Lifebuoy, a leading sanitisation brand, is developing partnerships with sporting events such as McLaren Racing and the Singapore Tennis Open to underscore Lifebuoy’s commitment to bringing these events back in a safe manner.

Lifebuoy collaborated with the Singapore Tennis Open as its Official Hygiene Partner for the event that concluded at the Singapore Sports Hub OCBC Arena by providing hygiene products to ensure the safety and hygiene of organisers, players, officials and volunteers during the event.

Lifebuoy highlight that even as vaccination programmes are being launched globally, good hygiene habits are here to stay as part of the measures required to defeat COVID-19.

The pandemic has instilled in all of us the importance of necessary safeguards through cleanliness and sanitation. Health screenings, safe distancing and hand sanitisers are some of the measures organisers are implementing at events to promote safety as well as peace of mind for all involved.

Hygiene continues to be of paramount importance in the time of COVID-19 and its variants, especially when it comes to sports, an environment and place where ‘contact’ is almost unavoidable.

From international, to regional and local events, Lifebuoy is no stranger to the world of sports and looks to deepen its support for sporting events and teams globally. The brand has been working with sporting event organisers and personalities to communicate the importance of good personal hand hygiene habits. Apart from partnerships with McLaren Racing, the Pakistan and West Indies cricket team, Lifebuoy has recently signed a three-year deal with The Hundred, a professional franchise 100-ball cricket tournament in England and Wales run by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).

Kartik Chandrasekhar, Global Vice President of Lifebuoy, Unilever highlighted “Sport has never witnessed an era like this before. Enabling sporting events to resume during COVID-19 is not an easy task but brings to light the level of hygiene and safety that goes in to ensure that organisers, players, officials, and volunteers are able to enjoy sports in a safe and controlled environment. We are glad that Lifebuoy can play a role in bringing back activities that we sorely miss. Through such partnerships, we aim to make hygiene accessible for all and be part of everyone’s active lifestyles as we adjust to the ‘new normal’ and keep ourselves, family, and friends safe and healthy.

Sport Singapore Chief Executive, Lim Teck Yin added “hosting the ATP 250 tournament in Singapore comes at a time where safety and hygiene of the entire premises has been of utmost priority. The efforts of all our sponsors and partners in stepping forward at these times speak volumes of their commitment to the local and international sport scene.”

Lifebuoy runs one of the world's largest handwashing behaviour change programmes in the world and has reached more than 1 billion people through behaviour change communication to date.
