First five Minor Venue Program projects approved for Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games
July 11, 2024

A Federation Funding Agreement (FFA) has been signed between the Australian and Queensland Governments for the first five approved Minor Venues Program (MVP) projects for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

This is a vital step in supporting the successful delivery of the Games and their legacy.

The FFA outlines the agreed project milestones and Commonwealth payments for:

  • New Chandler Indoor Sports Centre and Precinct works,
  • upgrades to the Brisbane Aquatic Centre,
  • Sunshine Coast Stadium,
  • Sunshine Coast Mountain Bike Centre, and the
  • New Sunshine Coast Indoor Sports Centre jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland Governments.

Investment in these venues places a focus on:

  • Accessible, inclusive and fit-for-purpose sporting and community spaces that leave a lasting community legacy
  • Construction targets that achieve sustainability outcomes and increase participation of women, First Nations people, trainees and apprentices.

Both governments will work together to ensure venue projects reflect the long term needs of the community and are ready in time for the Games.
