China’s Sport beyond the Olympics

China’s Sport beyond the Olympics
June 11, 2008

International Sports Facilities Expo China will return in 2008 with new concepts and a new China Sports Facilities Management Conference to capitalize on the booming industry.

With the 2008 Beijing Olympics just a short time away, most of the preparations are completed - with 12 brand new sports venues, 11 renovated sports venues and 8 temporary venues ready to greet athletes and a global audience of spectators.

The Olympics have laid a solid foundation for the emergence of the sports facility industry in China. Advanced concepts in building, management, maintenance and operation of sports facilities have been brought to China, and the International Sports Facilities Expo China (ISFE), and the China Sports Facilities Management Conference 2008 will offer an excellent opportunity for promoting the sustained development of China's sports facility industry.

With the support from State General Administration of Sport of China and the China Olympic Committee, ISFE and the China Sports Facilities Management Conference will be held on 17th and 18th November at China World Trade Centre in Beijing. The event will again be organized by the China National Sports Group (CNSG) and German trade fairs organizer Koelnmesse, and supported by the China Sports Venue Association, international organizations such as the International Association for Sports and Leisure Facilities (IAKS), the Venue Management Association Asia-Pacific (VMA) and the International Association of Assembly Managers (IAAM).

The Conference will discuss future development of the industry from various aspects, attracting hundreds of venue owners and operators in China. Considering the changes and features of the sports facility and management market in China, and building on the success of the very first ISFE Forum in December 2007, the organizers have upgraded the forum into a full scale conference and workshops, aiming to broaden Chinese venue owner and operator's horizon of venue management, improve the construction and management level of the sports facilities in China, and promote the healthy and sustained development of China's sports facility industry.
