Business Events associations create challenge for emerging leader

Business Events associations create challenge for emerging leader
January 11, 2024
Events /

The Australian Business Events Association (ABEA) and the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) have come together to invite an Emerging Leader to address industry professionals at the Asia Pacific Incentives and Meetings Event (AIME) and share their thought-provoking ideas on how to attract, retain, and motivate talent for the Business Events Industry.

What makes an Emerging Leader? An individual aged 18 – 35 working in the Business Events industry, or someone who has been in the industry for less than ten years. An emerging leader is already in a position of leadership or is seeking this as a career goal.

The competition is open to ABEA members and their staff only.

Together ABEA and ICCA have created the challenge, encouraging emerging leaders to submit their ideas, or proposition, for creating a career path to attract passionate talent to the Business Events Industry.

The Associations are currently accepting submissions for one lucky individual to present their topic to 100+ industry leaders at AIME’s leadership forum ‘The Business Events Proposition’, on Monday, 19th February. AIME 2024 will be held at the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre from 19th – 21st February.

Submissions must include a three-page written response and a video presentation addressing the below factors:

What should be the Business Events industry’s proposition to better attract and retain talent, taking into consideration:

  1. Career pathways and opportunities
  2. Education and training
  3. Well-being, burn-out and work-life balance
  4. Diversity and inclusion
  5. Compensation and benefits
  6. Key communication messages within the recruitment process.

The winner will receive...

  • The opportunity to present at the AIME Leadership forum
  • A complimentary ticket to attend AIME, 19th – 21st February
  • Return flights to Melbourne from their city
  • Two nights' accommodation in Melbourne
  • ICCASkills Certified International Convention Specialist scholarship
