read moreThe long-awaited World Athletics Cross Country Championships are just one month away from being held in Bathurst, with the event attracting some of the world’s best cross country athletes including Olympic and Commonwealth Games medallists.
The World Athletics Cross Country Championships, Bathurst 2023 will also feature a range of public events which will see everyday runners competing over the actual World Cross Country Championship Course. From School Challenges and Clubs races through to the Golden Ticket races which will see placegetters make it through to the actual World Championships.
It will give everyday runners the opportunity to experience first hand what the world's best distance runners will experience - the hills, the boomerang, the billabong, the vineyard and that glorious World Championship feeling in a once in a lifetime opportunity.
Australia has named its first 14 athletes who will be competing with the full team to be announced next week.
The first 14 athletes include national 10,000m record holder Jack Rayner and Olympian Rose Davies who won the Men’s and Women’s 10km trial events. National record holder Stewart McSweyn and Commonwealth Games bronze medallist Abbey Caldwell will take the first two spots in the Mixed Relay Team, as well as Leanne Pompeani, Caitlin Adams, and Matthew Ramsden and Brett Robinson in the individual open events.
