Exercisers who have signed up for programs offered by Gold Coast-based fitness celebrity Ashy Bines have complained about being charged membership fees despite having cancelled their accounts.

A social media phenomenon, Bines has a combined 2.4 million followers on Facebook and Instagram, finding fame as a result of her '12-week bikini challenge' and the 'Ashy Bines Booty Challenge'.

However, Fairfax media has reported that women continue to be charged $40 a month despite having cancelled their accounts.

Members have taken to Bines’ social media pages to complain about difficulties in cancelling their memberships. However, Bines has been accused of deleting negative comments on social media from disgruntled users and of blocking others from online forums for which they have paid to access.

Recent weeks have presented a series of challenges for Bines with her husband being sued by Emily Skye Fit for allegedly sending malicious spam emails damaging to Emily Skye Fit while food blogger Alexandria Dodds is raising money via a gofundme page to fund the legal action in relation to a claim for plagiarism by Bines.

Recipes published by Bines were allegedly copied from an e-book published by Dodds.

In spite of these troubles, Bines has a loyal following, with more than 4,000 exercises attending Sydney Olympic Park in July for a sold-out $28 fitness session, where they were led through a 45-minute ‘booty lifting and sculpting workout’.
