Abu Dhabi’s Yas Waterworld opens
The waterpark opened on Monday (20th January), ahead of its scheduled opening on Thursday, with management announcing the early launch on the attraction's Facebook page.
The Yas Waterworld Facebook page stated "we had such an exciting day yesterday ... that we just couldn't wait until Thursday to open.
"Today January 20th we officially open our doors to welcome everyone!"
Yas Waterworld, developed by Aldar Properties and operated by Farah Leisure Management, operators of Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, is a Dh900 million investment that offers some of the fastest and longest waterslides in the world.
Tickets are Dh225 per adult (those taller than 1.1 metres) and Dh185 per child (those below 1.1 metres), with towel and locker rental costing extra while children under the age of three enter free.
Those who don't want to wait in long queues can purchase a premium pass, which is Dh325 per adult and Dh265 per child. The water park is also offering a Dh650 pass per adult for unlimited access all year round. A Dh995 ticket is also on sale for unlimited access to both Yas Waterworld and Ferrari World.
The waterpark offers 43 rides, slides and attractions and can accomodate up to 6,000 people at a time.
General Manager Mike Oswald told Gulf News "we expect to start at a reasonable pace, but by the time its summer and kids get out of school we expect a massive amount of people to come to the park."
Phase two of the project that will see the 15 hectare park expand by a further two hectares is set to begin next year.
