4th Annual Resort Development and Hospitality conference to focus on sustainable resort developments

4th Annual Resort Development and Hospitality conference to focus on sustainable resort developments
August 30, 2013

Being held next week at the Sheraton Sanya Haitang Bay Resort on the Chinese resort island of Hainan, the fourth Annual Resort Development and Hospitality conference will see the sharing of innovative ideas for the sustainable development of resort destinations.

This highly-interactive and information packed event will highlight global case studies from leading developers and managers while also providing an excellent networking platform with global professionals and industry leaders linked to resort development and hospitality.

The event features key presentations and case studies from:

• Abid Butt, Chief Executive, Banyan Tree Hotels and Resorts, Singapore
• Chua Tian Chu, Deputy Chief Executive, Meritus Hotels & Resorts, Singapore
• Bernold O. Schroeder, Chief Executive, Jin Jiang International Hotel, China
• Jens Thraenhart, Chair, PATA (Pacific Asia Travel Association) China
• Geoffrey Lee, Vice President, Design & Engineering IHG, China

The conference will cover two streams over its two days:

Stream I: Masterplanning, Design & Technologies
With the sheer magnitude of resorts, masterplanning is a basis to provide facts on existing conditions and trends, enabling decision makers to better understand the impacts of such a development. This information can be used in deciding and prioritising what kind of projects to undertake including identifying the infrastructure requirements and public amenities.
With more emerging economies jumping on the band wagon to develop Resorts, a fresh outlook on design is taken where thanks to the modern travellers lifestyles, it is becoming less common for resorts to be designed exclusively for business travellers or leisure guests. Here we will examine the challenges of embarking on a new Integrated Resort as well as refurbishing and renovating for existing property owners. This stream will also showcase cutting edge technologies in the hospitality industry and embrace new developments of Integrated Resorts in the emerging and existing markets.

Stream II: Commercialisation & Development
With limited resources, varied capabilities and new technologies, companies are looking for creative new concepts to introduce into Resorts. Product development is a prerequisite for satisfying tourists needs and changing demands as well as ensuring profitability in a highly competitive industry. Funding for large scale projects like Resorts is a complex area, and there are specific challenges involved in creating the appropriate finance structures to manage risks effectively. Project finance requires multidisciplinary teams from economists, engineers, accountants and finance specialist all need to work together to ensure that a project achieves its funding objectives. This event will give delegates the opportunity to meet with key people from the public and private sectors alike to determine solutions and address the challenges of financing such large scale projects.

Being held on Start Date: Thursday 5th and Friday 6th September 2013, the event also features site tours to the Westin Sanya Haitang Bay Resort and the Sheraton Sanya Resort, Yalong Bay and St Regis Sanya Yalong Bay Resort.

Near the southernmost point of the island of Hainan, Sanya is renowned for its tropical climate and has emerged as a popular tourist destination over recent years.
