New video screen part of Council investment in Central Coast Stadium

New video screen part of Council investment in Central Coast Stadium
January 23, 2018

The unveiling of a new video screen at the Central Coast Stadium is part of a $1.7 million program of investment in the venue by the Central Coast Council.

Along with a move to elevate the venue’s capacity to host major recreational events and entertainment acts, the video screen enhancement has also included an upgrade to the venue’s sound system.

The 86 metre² upgraded screen is double the size of the previous one and can live stream breaking news and current events before, during and after play, while also allowing the 20,059-capacity stadium to house movie nights without the need for a secondary screen.

Central Coast Mayor Jane Smith said that Council’s continued investment in the stadium is validation of the tremendous value it brings to the local community, commenting “in terms of bringing people together and fostering community spirit, the Stadium is an incredibly important asset.

“By improving our infrastructure, we can better support our partners to improve the quality of experience to all who visit the Stadium”.

Home to the A-League’s Central Coast Mariners, the venue also plays host to rugby league and rugby union fixtures.

Advising that the upgrades are a timely and welcome development for the growth and development of sport on the Central Coast, Mariners Chief Executive Shaun Mielekamp stated “the Central Coast Mariners have been proudly representing the Central Coast since 2005, and are the only sporting franchise that represent the region on a national and international sporting stage.

“As a club, we are proud to call Central Coast Stadium home and are extremely excited for our supporters who will be offered the ultimate visual and sound experience when we play.”

The Stadium will boast a busy schedule of high calibre events in the coming months, with fiev Central Coast Mariners home games still to be played in the A-League 2017/2018 season; along with a multi-year commitments from the South Sydney Rabbitohs and Sydney Roosters to bring premier games to the venue along with a host of community programs and sporting development initiatives. The stadium will also host International artist Lionel Richie on 31st March and the Queens Baton Relay on 3rd February.
