Live Performance Australia backs venue energy efficiency initiative

Live Performance Australia backs venue energy efficiency initiative
September 11, 2014

Live Performance Australia (LPA) has released details of its new Greener Live Performances through Energy Efficiency project with a suite of online resources, case studies and tools to venue managers.

The online resource includes fact sheets and checklists on energy efficient venue and performance space lighting, along with more detailed resources such as an information kit on building management systems, a management guide on including energy efficiency in venue hire, and design guides for retrofitting HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) in venues and managing peak demand.

Additional resources including management guides on assessing and purchasing sub-metering systems, writing an energy policy and building a business case for your board or sponsors.

A statement from LPA explains “the catchphrase in energy efficiency is ‘you can’t manage what you don’t measure’, and we’ve got a bespoke online Tool to help you with that as well.

“The Venues GHG Calculator is a simple tool that allows you to benchmark your energy use and costs per square metre against Australian venues of a similar size and climate zone (and) you just need your current electricity bill to get started.”

LPA emphasise that the more venues that input data to the Venues GHG Calculator, the more robust the benchmarking results will be.

LPA add “in addition, by answering a few Yes/No/ Not Sure questions, the Venue GHG calculator will also provide you with an individualised Action Plan for improving your energy efficiency.

“Greener Live Performances through Energy Efficiency is for the entire industry, not just LPA members.

“We look forward to achieving a more energy efficient future together.”
