Dubai Arena moves toward 2018 opening, seeks venue manager
AEG Ogden and developer Meraas have provided an update on the progress of the Dubai Arena – the Arabian Gulf’s first all-purpose, indoor and air-conditioned arena of its size.
Set to open by the end of next year and with an approximate capacity of 20,000, the arena is set to enhance Dubai’s leisure and entertainment offering and become the ‘go to’ venue for large scale international music concerts, sporting events and entertainment.
Managed by state-backed holding company Meraas, the venue will be the second AEG Ogden managed venue in the Arabian Gulf after the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Looking forward to the opening, AEG Ogden Chairman and Chief Executive Harvey Lister believes that the new venue “put Dubai on the international entertainment touring circuit and make a major contribution to the Emirate’s continued development as a major tourism destination.”
Lister sees that Dubai is located ideally to capitalise on acts flying out of, or to, Europe from venues in Asia and Australasia adding “AEG Ogden will use its worldwide network and contacts to secure leading international artists and shows for the venue.”
Dubai Arena is designed to have automated malleable seats, which enables the venue to transform according to the scale of the event being held, no matter how small or big it is. It will also be able to host large scale weddings requiring extremely grand decorations and unconventional set-up which cannot be accommodated elsewhere. It will allow the venue to be included alongside other major international cities such as London, Sydney and New York in hosting major touring events.
Strategically located at Dubai’s City Walk, with close proximity to the Dubai International Airport and accessible via the Dubai Metro, the new venue will be at the heart of Dubai’s latest urban lifestyle destination surrounded by a range of hospitality, F&B, entertainment and retail options.
General Manager – Dubai Arena
AEG Ogden is currently seeking a highly experienced General Manager to develop and lead the team in the pre-operational planning, opening, and operation of this exciting new project.
The General Manager will have overall responsibility for planning, management, and leading of all of the Arena’s operational departments, and will maintain a close working relationship with AEG Ogden’s Brisbane-based headquarters.
Inquiries about the position should be made to Steve Scott, AEG Ogden Director of International Operations at email firstname.lastname@example.org
Applications, including a CV, covering letter and references should be emailed to email@example.com
