Conference brings outdoor recreation professionals together

The 2012 Outdoor Recreation Industry Council (ORIC) Conference is set to bring together outdoor recreation professionals and students for networking, professional development and information sharing activities and opportunities, to learn about industry changes, to hone skills, to connect with industry colleagues and to build a stronger shared future.

The conference, to be held at the Novotel Hotel Sydney Olympic Park on 25th and 26th August, provides opportunity for our industry to 'Get Connected' (the conference theme) with topics that explore outdoor recreation, outdoor adventure and outdoor education, and within this framework, address issues of environmental, weather, risk management, youth at risk, adventure tourism, leadership programs, ecological footprints, outdoor equipment, outdoor activities, research findings, land use, special programs, methodology etc.

The conference includes skill workshops, educational sessions, keynote addresses and peer networking opportunities.

Presentations by leading peer professionals provides opportunities to expand personal knowledge base and stay up to date with the most recent trends and curriculum implementation.

As the premier outdoor recreation conference for the outdoor industry, Get Connected provides actional insights that can be explored, creates a unique opportunity for the outdoor community to come together to network, explore best practices, and receive continuing education through the use of workshops and presentations.

The aim and purpose is that current professionals, leaders, students, stakeholder and affiliated industry members and suppliers Get Connected, interact and stay on top of this dynamic and growing field.

The many faces of the outdoor recreation industry that will be in attendance, including:

• Leaders of Outdoor and Adventure Pursuits Programs

• Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme providers
• Front-line staff, leaders and guides from camps, non profits, and private adventure companies
• Equipment and Service Providers supplying and supporting the Outdoor Industry
