With almost 30 event spaces suitable for everything from corporate meetings to large music festivals, the Brisbane Showgrounds, home to the Royal International Convention Centre (Royal ICC), is enjoying an increase in events.

Offering the largest and most versatile range of indoor and outdoor venues in Queensland, with a total capacity of more than 70,000 people per day, the Showgrounds staged more than 260 events in 2016, an increase on 2015.

The Royal ICC, the precinct’s key function spacs, hosted more than 70% of the events held at the Showgrounds last year and more than 600 since opening in 2013.

Speaking during the Asia-Pacific Incentives and Meetings Expo (AIME) this week, the Royal ICC’s General Manager of Venue Sales and Marketing Jago Coyle said they offer an event space like no other.

Coyle stated “our versatile range of venues allows us to host everything from large equestrian competitions with stables located on site to five star dinner functions featuring Royal Queensland Food and Wine Show (RQFWS) award-winning produce.

“On average, a million people visit the Showgrounds each year for events such as the Queensland Caravan, Camping and Touring Supershow which attracts around 55,000 people and the popular Oktoberfest Brisbane which is Australia’s largest German festival.

“We’re looking forward to 2017 being another busy year, with many new or returning events already booked including banquets, conferences and exhibitions.”

The 22 hectare Brisbane Showgrounds precinct is located just 1.5 kilometresfrom Brisbane’s CBD.
