read moreAmid heightened security fears in the wake of recent terrorist events, authorities in Auckland have cut the number of events being held on tomorrow's ANZAC Day.
Only 26 commemorations will go ahead in Auckland, compared to 84 last year, as organisers from Returned and Services’ Associations (RSAs) consolidate gatherings. The move comes after lingering security fears after following the recent shootings at two Christchurch mosques.

Auckland Police Superintendent Karyn Malthus advised "consolidating events for this year’s commemorations enables police to ensure resources are deployed appropriately across services.
“There is no information about a specific threat to Anzac events at this time. However it’s important that the public be safe and feel safe.”
