read moreFor the 12th year in a row, Anytime Fitness, the world’s largest and fastest-growing fitness club chain, has been acknowledged by the US-based Entrepreneur magazine as a 'Top Global' franchise.
Opening an average of more than 300 new gyms each year for more than a decade, Anytime Fitness recently expanded to Colombia and Indonesia. Now operating in more than 30 countries, new gyms will soon open in Morocco and on adventure expedition ship in Antarctica.
New Zealand's first Anytime Fitness club opened in Christchurch in 2009 and today there are 43 Anytime Fitness clubs across the country, with many more expected to open soon.
To compile the most recent Top Global franchise rankings, Entrepreneur started with each company's 2019 Franchise 500 score - based on system size, growth rate and financial strength and stability - then adjusted to give extra weight to international size and growth rate.
Richard Ball (pictured), master franchisee for Anytime Fitness in New Zealand, advised "our clubs are very popular in several areas throughout the country
"Our individual gym owners are doing well and our members appreciate 24-hour access to our state-of-the-art equipment and facilities. We expect to open three additional clubs in New Zealand before the end of the year."
Anytime Fitness Chief Executive and co-founder, Chuck Runyon stated "this designation as a Top Global franchise for the 12th consecutive year is a credit to our international franchise development team and our fabulous group of international master franchisees.
"Whether it’s New Zealand, the Netherlands or Japan, our franchisees are providing our members with personal service and a wealth of training options that produce real results.
"That personal touch and high level of engagement is what differentiates Anytime Fitness from many other gyms and what has strengthened and grown our brand worldwide."
Currently, there are nearly 5,000 Anytime Fitness gyms open worldwide. Besides the US, where nearly 3,000 Anytime Fitness gyms are located, the countries with the most Anytime Fitness gyms are Japan (565), Australia (506), Canada (192) and the England (150).
Anytime Fitness co-founder and President, Dave Mortensen added "Anytime Fitness was founded on the idea that exercise should be as convenient and rewarding as possible.
"We’ve eliminated all of the most common barriers to healthy lifestyles and, by constantly finding new ways to help our members realize meaningful results, we’re well on our way to achieving our goal of ‘making healthy happen’ for as many people as possible - worldwide."
Anytime Fitness hopes to continue development in the near future in the Middle East region, Europe and Latin America.
