read moreThe International Olympic Committee (IOC), in collaboration with Worldwide Olympic Partner Deloitte, has announced the launch of the 2025 edition of the IOC Climate Action Awards - not just to honour bold ideas, but to ignite a movement.
The IOC Climate Action Awards celebrate innovative, impactful and measurable actions in tackling climate change by National Olympic Committees (NOCs), International Sports Federations (IFs), and Olympic and Paralympic athletes.
The IOC Climate Action Awards 2025 invite innovative projects that actively reduce climate impact. Applicants are encouraged to present projects that deliver measurable environmental benefits, such as lowering overall carbon footprints, recycling sports equipment, reducing waste and material use, or advancing sustainable food initiatives.
Marie Sallois, IOC Director of Corporate and Sustainable Development notes “The IOC Climate Action Awards return in 2025 - not just to honour bold ideas, but to ignite a movement. These awards are a call to action for those redefining what’s possible in sport and sustainability. We invite athletes, International Sports Federations and National Olympic Committees from across the world to share their efforts to address climate change and accelerate the sustainable transformation of sport.”
The 2025 edition of the IOC Climate Action Awards is supported by Worldwide Olympic and Paralympic Partner Deloitte, which is contributing its expertise to help shape the programme’s criteria and prize offerings.
Jen Steinmann, Deloitte Global Sustainability Business leader advised “Deloitte is honoured to once again be the presenting partner of the IOC Climate Action Awards, which recognises leaders using creative and visionary approaches to address environmental challenges in sports. To bring these ideas to action, we’re especially proud of the unique lab and mentorship components of this initiative that allow us to work hand-in-hand with International Federations, National Olympic Committees and athletes to support the acceleration and implementation of their transformative solutions.”
Winners of the 2025 IOC Climate Action Awards will receive tailored support to advance their sustainability efforts. The IF and NOC winners will each be awarded an Innovation Lab experience delivered by Deloitte’s Greenhouse team, designed to accelerate their climate initiatives. Athlete winners will benefit from a six-month mentoring relationship with a regional Deloitte sustainability expert, providing guidance to help develop and improve their projects to address climate change.
Building on the Success of IOC Climate Action Awards 2024
The 2025 edition builds on the momentum of the IOC Climate Action Awards 2024, which saw 15 finalists selected across the three categories during Paris 2024, with four winners announced in September 2024.
Applications for the IOC Climate Action Awards 2025 are open until 27th June. The names of the winners will be revealed during the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026.
