Our pool network across Wellington City can't operate without our frontline Lifeguards, playing a key role in helping people in our communities get the most out of our venues and have a safe, enjoyable experience.

This is a job that really does make a difference to your community. We have fun and support our community by keeping them safe.

Forget your preconceptions of what a lifeguard looks like - you just need to be a confident swimmer and be great with people.

We provide all the training necessary!

As a minimum you'll gain the following qualifications:

First Aid Level 2 Certificate
Pool Lifeguard Practicing Certificate - as an up and coming lifeguard, training will be delivered and assessed on-the-job at the pool.
You'll benefit from being part of an organisation that grows it's people.

You'll work in a stimulating environment, as well as receive full training and have plenty of development opportunities - lifeguards have the opportunity to progress to Assistant Duty Manager and Duty Manager roles as part of their recreation career pathway.

Kilbirnie (Wellington Regional Aquatic Centre)
Oriental Bay (Freyberg Pool)
Karori
Johnsonville (Keith Spry Pool)
Tawa
Khandallah
Thorndon
