read moreThe Victoria Tourism Industry Council (VTIC) has announced that Zoos Victoria’s Kyabram Fauna Park has joined Melbourne Zoo, Healesville Sanctuary and Werribee Open Range Zoo in achieving Quality Tourism Sustainable Accreditation.
The recognition highlights Zoos Victoria’s ongoing commitment to excellence in conservation, education, and visitor experience, with all four zoos now carrying the accreditation.
The national Quality Tourism Sustainable Accreditation, delivered in Victoria by VTIC, acknowledges businesses that demonstrate best practices in sustainability, customer service and operational excellence.
This accreditation affirms Zoos Victoria’s leadership in environmental responsibility and dedication to providing visitors with exceptional, sustainable experiences.
Advising that the accreditation is a testament to Zoos Victoria unwavering focus on conservation and visitor engagement, VTIC Chief Executive, Felicia Mariani explained “achieving this accreditation across all four of their sites reflects their commitment to sustainability, wildlife care and providing meaningful experiences for visitors.”
Zoos Victoria Chief Executive, Dr Jenny Gray added “we are so proud that all four of Zoos Victoria’s zoos are now carrying this accreditation, which is a reflection of our enduring commitment to conservation and sustainability in our operations and visitor experiences.”
In addition to this achievement, both Melbourne Zoo and Healesville Sanctuary will be competing for top honours in the Major Tourist Attractions and Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Tourism Experiences categories at the Australian Tourism Awards later this month.
This national recognition underscores their outstanding contributions to the tourism industry and dedication to excellence.
Zoos Victoria’s sustainable initiatives include habitat restoration, waste reduction, carbon neutrality and community education programs aimed at inspiring conservation action.
The accreditation further solidifies the zoos as leading attractions for both local and international visitors who value responsible tourism.
