YMCA South Australia to manage and operate Port Lincoln Leisure Centre
January 16, 2017

The City of Port Lincoln has appointed YMCA South Australia as the successful tenderer for the management and operation of the Port Lincoln Leisure Centre – which is scheduled to reopen after a refurbishment in late February.

YMCA South Australia Chief Executive Haydn Robins said the decision would have a truly positive impact for the people who live and work in Port Lincoln, commenting “Port Lincoln residents are passionate about their community facilities and we are thrilled to be given the opportunity to work with them and promote active participation in health and fitness across the region.”

The redeveloped of the Port Lincoln Leisure Centre will deliver benefits to the entire community through employment and community engagement, as well as provide state of the art facilities for families to enjoy range of aquatic and health and fitness programs.

“The YMCA is proud to add the Port Lincoln Leisure Centre to our stable of leisure facilities management. We’re excited by the opportunity to build new community partnerships and to promote healthy participation throughout the City of Port Lincoln and beyond.”

The Council and YMCA have signed a five year agreement commencing from 1st January 2017 and running to 31st December 2021.

Port Lincoln acting Mayor Neville Starke stated “it is fantastic to see the major refurbishment project coming to completion, on budget, with YMCA South Australia appointed to manage and operate the whole Leisure Centre.

“YMCA South Australia is a leading manager of aquatic facilities and we welcome them on board.”
