Work to commence at Wet’n'Wild Sydney
With developers Village Roadshow having approval to develop the Wet'n'Wild Sydney project, construction of the $80 million waterpark is expected to begin in early September.
Project Director Chris Warhurst told the Blacktown Advocate newspaper that Village Roadshow is preparing its construction schedule plan after getting the green light from NSW Department of Planning in recent weeks. Warhurst said all major concerns raised by the Department, Blacktown Council and community groups had been dealt with.
In order to open in September 2013, Village had been planning to begin construction in March. However, Warhurst explained "everything is moving according to schedule. I am very confident the park will open as scheduled in late 2013.
"We are now preparing our construction schedule and choosing the water attractions to be installed."
Village Roadshow Director Clark Kirby has anticipated that Wet'n'Wild Sydney will be "the best water park in the world."
Village Roadshow's plans are for the waterpark to be built on a 25 hectare site in Prospect, close to Sydney's M4 and M7 motorways. Village predict the waterpark will attract up to 900,000 visits each year, create 300 jobs during construction and operation and inject $500 million into the western Sydney economy in the first 10 years.
