The masterplan will set out a vision for the future development of the precinct enabling works to be staged over time, consistent with a vision for development and activation of the Perth Cultural Centre.
This co-ordinated approach contributes to the delivery of the City Deal and the Cultural Infrastructure Framework.
Revitalisation of the precinct will increase tourism and visitation numbers, which supports the diversification of the economy, creates jobs and develops business opportunities.
Commenting on the project, Western Australian Culture and the Arts Minister, David Templeman stated “revitalisation of the Perth Cultural Centre is well on its way with improved lighting, landscaping and shaded seating, along with the recent opening of the WA Museum Boola Bardip.
"The Perth Cultural Centre is a key part of our cultural infrastructure assets, with the potential to be a central point for local visitors and tourists in our capital city.
"(We are) continuing to develop a vision for a strong and sustainable precinct that creates opportunities for the resident cultural institutions and, in turn, creates positive outcomes for the community of Western Australia."
