read moreThe Sunshine Coast tourism industry is ready to welcome visitors post ex Cyclone Alfred with accommodation, attractions, restaurants and tours open and back to business as usual.
That was the message being shared by the Visit Sunshine Coast trade team at the ATEC Queensland Showcase in Sydney this week.
VSC Chief Executive Matt Stoeckel said the Sunshine Coast Airport was fully operational with flights coming in from southern states as well as internationally from New Zealand.
Stoeckel advised “Holiday Parks have reopened and are welcoming caravan and camping stays, and while the Mooloolaba Triathlon event had to be postponed, it has already been reorganised for the weekend of 29th/30th March. We are also excited to be hosting the Noosa Festival of Surfing this weekend.
“Our world class beaches of Mooloolaba and Noosa remain open and are in really good shape. Our message to the travel trade in Australia and New Zealand is that we’re open for business and looking forward to welcoming their clients to the Sunshine Coast.
“If you’re keen to see what the Sunshine Coast really looks like, right now, check out our socials.”
VSC this week launched a new Real Time Social Media Campaign using the hashtag #SunshineCoastForReal across its official Instagram and Facebook pages.
“The best way to get people travelling again is by showing people exactly what the Sunshine Coast looks like right now,” Stoeckel added.
“We’ve had an instant response to the campaign with 64,000 video views overnight which we hope will quickly translate into bookings. Some tourism businesses have not had any customers for a week, and it's so important that we get the tourism industry flowing again.
“We are also working closely with our trade partners to communicate the latest updates to all our main markets and highlight that we are ready and waiting to welcome visitors.”
