Vbase announces that Christchurch Town Hall will reopen from 4th August
July 9, 2020

Christchurch City Council owned venues and events company Vbase Limited has announced that the Christchurch Town Hall will reopen for daily public access from 4th August.

While volunteers will be taking visitors on daytime tours of the venue its first performance will come this Sunday when the New Zealand Army Band will headline a free family-friendly show.

Advising of the reopening, Vbase Chief Executive, Caroline Harvie-Teare explained "our community has so many special memories over almost 50 years at the Town Hall and there is great pride in the venue.

“Opening the doors for daily access is both an opportunity for the community to reconnect with its venue but also for visitors to Christchurch to experience one of our most iconic assets.”

With the Town Hall home to the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra, Chief Executive, Gretchen La Roche says "we feel very fortunate to be the orchestra in residence of such an outstanding venue and look forward to sharing music with the people of Christchurch.”

Meticulously repaired and refurbished after being damaged in the Christchurch earthquakes the Town Hall reopened for events in February 2019.

Vbase Limited is a Council Controlled Organisation that owns and manages Christchurch Town Hall and Horncastle Arena and manages Airforce Museum of NZ, Orangetheory Stadium and Hagley Oval on behalf of other venue owners.
