Tennis Australia appoints new participation head
April 16, 2016

Respected sports administrator Paul Cammack is set to take on the role of Director of Participation at Tennis Australia.

In his current role as Redevelopment and Places to Play Manager, Cammack has overseen the $700 million+ Melbourne Park redevelopment along with the delivery of other major infrastructure such as the $27 million redevelopment of the Canberra Tennis Centre.

Through the National Court Rebate scheme, Cammack has led member affiliates and local government in the development or upgrade of 105 projects worth $62 million in the past year resulting in 510 new or resurfaced courts including 189 ANZ Tennis Hot Shots courts.

His other credits include:

• Growth of membership program and successful implementation of participation initiatives such as ANZ Tennis Hot Shots as Community Tennis Manager and Regional Development Coordinator at Tennis Queensland
• Senior Trade Broker at Bartercard Sunshine Coast where he led one of the highest performing teams in Australia
• Responsible for growing Petrolic Consultants small engineering consultancy start-up to a business with an annual turnover of $5 million.

Announcing the appointment, Tennis Australia Chief Executive Craig Tiley stated “Paul’s leadership of our participation team is expected to help with the greater empowerment of our Member Associations and the delivery of our sport working with clubs, coaches and schools.

“His background of involvement in our community means he will be perfectly placed to advocate on behalf of an already strong team, help them continue their professional growth and build the relationships with all stakeholders within the tennis space to unprecedented levels of good will.”

Cammack said he was looking forward to help grow tennis participation in Australia, commenting “tennis provides opportunities for social interaction, health, learning positive behaviours and so much more. Everybody deserves these opportunities and the participation team, in partnership with our member associations, will make the sport easier to access and provide products that meet market demands.

“Tennis has been a lifelong passion for me both as a participant, volunteer and coach. I look forward to bringing my skills and experience to the team.”

Cammack will lead the Participation team which encompasses: Products including ANZ Tennis Hot Shots, Fitbit Cardio Tennis, Book a Court and Fast4; Schools; Leagues and Competitions; Clubs and Community; Coaches, Development and Tennis Services.
