Senior sports administrator Matt Dwyer is set to bring together the Tennis Australia Participation and Performance teams in the new role of Chief Tennis Officer.

Dwyer’s extensive professional experience encompasses sport, where he’s worked at all levels connecting participation, community sport and high performance in cricket in Australia and the UK, along with a variety of sales and marketing management roles in the highly competitive consumer goods sector.

His current position is Director, Participation and Growth for the England and Wales Cricket Board, with previous roles including game and market development for Cricket Australia and national business management for Mars Food Australia.

Announcing the appointment, Tennis Australia Chief Executive Craig Tiley stated “we are delighted to welcome Matt to tennis and believe his impeccable sporting credentials and sound business experience will help us continue to grow the sport at all levels.

“We welcome Matt’s proven leadership skills in both sport and business to this new executive role which will oversee the two major pillars of our sport, participation and performance.

“Matt will work closely with both the participation and performance teams on the future development of the sport in Australia, in what is truly a ‘grassroots to Grand Slam’ pathway.”

Looking forward to his new role, which her will start in July, Dwyer stated “it is an absolute honour and privilege to be appointed to this new role, in a sport that has such a rich history and is held dearly by so many Australians.

“I am incredibly excited and humbled to be joining such an innovative and forward-thinking organisation in Tennis Australia, who have enjoyed great business success in recent times.

“The role will focus on creating greater connectivity across the whole game, from grassroots participation to elite performance, and I look forward to partnering with all stakeholders as we collectively work towards our vision of connecting more people to tennis.”

Dwyer will relocate from England to Melbourne in the coming months.
