Technogym and Polar announce technology integration
Technogym has announced that its fitness and wellness solutions platforms are to be integrated with products developed by Polar, leader in heart-rate sensors, training apps, wearable sports devices and activity trackers.
Thanks to the Technogym Ecosystem and the new mywellness cloud open platform, Technogym mywellness® app users can now experience connectivity between Technogym equipment and practically the full portfolio of all Polar products.
This includes every Polar device that stores data on the Polar Flow web service or the Polar Personal Trainer at polarpersonaltrainer.com. All data captured with the Polar H7 heart rate sensor and the newest system for group classes, called Polar Flow for Club, also benefits from the same connectivity.
The integration of this technology will benefit Technogym and Polar users all around the globe. From now on, a user’s data captured by Polar products during indoor or outdoor training sessions – like heart rate, GPS map, workout intensity and so on – can be accessed on the wellness® cloud as well as Polar’s own data platforms. For example, with the MyRunning Logbook, one of the exclusive UNITY™ apps by Technogym, users can repeat their favourite outdoor run on a treadmill and challenge their past performance tracked by a Polar device.
That means users can follow their position on a map and compare their pace with the original session. What’s more personal trainers and fitness clubs can monitor their customers' individual results in the PRESCRIBE professional app.
When used together with Polar products mywellness® cloud gives a reliable insight into people's activity offering them new motivating ways to stay active.
Commenting on the integration, Technogym Network Director Fabrizio Giudici stated “we’re glad to announce this further level of integration with Polar, an important collaboration that will lead to a more and more engaging ‘wellness on the go’ experience for our clients.”
Polar Product Director Marco Suvilaakso added “Polar’s AccessLink API is specifically designed for large companies and institutions to connect their platforms and equipment directly to our data.
“Polar believes strongly that using workout data intelligently enables users to train smarter. Technogym’s integration is a great example of how data can be shared automatically across platforms using Polar products.
“We’re delighted to have been able to work with Technogym to make such connectivity possible.”
Technogym Ecosystem is a solution specifically designed for the fitness and wellness industry. It integrates the new ARTIS range, UNITY interface and mywellness cloud open platform. Technogym Ecosystem aims to offer operators a range of interconnected products, services, content and programs for the management of their members wellness lifestyle wherever they are: inside and outside the club.
Thanks to this open platform clubs will be able to offer their members with ‘wellness on the go’ packages and connect with them on any Technogym equipment anywhere in world or via personal devices: mywellness key, third party tracking devices, mobile phone, tablet, smart TV, PC, etc. Technogym Ecosystem and UNITY Android based console are both open API based, allowing app developers to design their own app capable to integrate with Technogym equipment and platform.
Launched in late 2013, Polar Flow provides Polar users with a detailed training analysis as well as the opportunity to relive their exercise, follow other users, see their long term progress and use the on-line training diary.
