Sydney Showground Stadium debuts as ‘boutique’ concert venue

February 7, 2013
Last Saturday night saw the Sydney Showground Stadium host its first concert since the completion of its $65 million upgrade last year, when Swedish House Mafia held the final concert of their 'One Last Tour' at the venue.
With a capacity of 40,000, concerts now set to become astrong part of the venue's regular offering alongside AFL (named the Skoda Stadium it hosts the Greater Western Sydney Giants) and music festivals.
Sydney Showground General Manager Peter Thorpe welcomed the Swedish House Mafia event stating "the increased capacity created through the upgrade means that the venue now truly lends itself to concerts without losing the Stadium's unique boutique appeal.
"This is one of the only Stadiums in Sydney where people can get up close to the stage and feel as though they are really part of the action.
"The Venue's location right in the heart of the Sydney metro area and the fact that it's so well connected to public transport makes it one of a kind in terms of accessible concert venues in Sydney. I'm very excited about staging more successful concerts like this going forward. "
Sydney Showground Stadium is serviced by trains from 6.00am to midnight most days of the week, four regular bus routes from locations around the Sydney metropolitan area drop directly at the Showground's doorstep, ferries run approximately every 20 minutes to the venue from Parramatta and Circular Quay.
With parking for over 10,000 cars, Sydney Showground Stadium is the perfect venue for a large range of daytime and evening events throughout the year.
