Sydney Entertainment Centre gets down to business

Sydney Entertainment Centre gets down to business
August 27, 2009

The Sydney Entertainment Centre has this week showed it is back in the business of rock'n'roll with the return to the venue of Alice Cooper.

The legendary showman's performance on 24th August marked a pivotal occasion under the new direction of experienced venue management entity, Darling Harbour Convention and Exhibitions Pty Ltd (DHCE).

Some of the Sydney Entertainment Centre's key management team including new General Manager, Steve Romer, were on hand backstage to present a special Australian gift to the School's Out singer as a token of appreciation.

The gift to Cooper delivered a strong indigenous flavour, a painting by rising star Rex Winston-Walford, using an array of contemporary metallic colours in 'Milky Way Dreaming'. Winston-Walford recently became a finalist in the 2009 NSW Parliament Indigenous Art Awards.

Alice Cooper was thrilled to accept the unique gift from the Sydney Entertainment Centre.

Cooper commented that he was incredibly fond of the iconic city venue and was really happy to meet the people who made the building tick, stating "it is really great to be back at the Sydney Entertainment Centre after an absence of over 10 years, I really love performing in this space."

Steve Romer has spoken to Australasian Leisure Management about how the SEC's new management is determined to return the venue to being a top concert destination. The article features in the September/October 2009 issue of Australasian Leisure Management.
