SportLogic data powers two million hours of tennis court bookings

SportLogic data powers two million hours of tennis court bookings
May 9, 2025

With tennis participation across Australia having enjoyed significant resurgence in 2024, booking software platform SportLogic has revealed that it recorded a staggering 2,372,042 hours of tennis booked on courts during the year.

Advising that this figure represents a remarkable 13% increase from the previous year, SportLogic notes that this surge in participation paints a vibrant picture of a nation rediscovering its love for the game.

Sydney-based SportLogic sees that several factors are likely contributing to this growth:

  • Increased Accessibility: Many clubs and facilities are making it easier than ever to book courts and join programs, many utilising online booking platforms such as the TennisVenues website and Tennis Australia’s Book a Court.
  • Community Focus: Tennis clubs are often hubs of community, offering programs for all ages and skill levels.
  • Post-Pandemic Momentum: The desire for outdoor, social, and engaging physical activity remains strong.
  • High-Profile Success: Inspirational performances on the international stage often ignite grassroots interest.

Explaining how more Australians - from casual hitters to aspiring champions - are picking up a racquet and enjoying the myriad benefits of tennis offers including physical fitness, mental acuity, and social connection, SportLogic founder and Managing Director, Mark Chen states "at SportLogic, we're passionate about understanding the dynamics of sports participation.

“Our unique position allows us to gather and analyse comprehensive court booking data from across the nation.

“This isn't just about raw numbers; it's about understanding trends, identifying growth areas, and providing actionable insights."

The 2.37 million hours booked isn't just a statistic; it represents:

  • Thriving Clubs: More court usage means healthier club finances and more vibrant communities.
  • Growing Player Base: A clear indicator of an expanding pool of tennis enthusiasts.
  • Opportunities for Coaches and Businesses: Increased demand for coaching, equipment, and tennis-related services.

Chen added "this deep data insight, powered by SportLogic, offers invaluable information to stakeholders like sports governing bodies, local councils, and individual club operators.

“It helps them make informed decisions about facility development, program investment, and strategies to further nurture this growth. We're proud to provide a clear, data-driven lens on the state of play."

Ongoing Growth
The 13% increase in court bookings is more than just a number, it's a testament to the enduring appeal of tennis and the collective effort to make it accessible and enjoyable for all.
