South Pacific Health Clubs launches world’s first three-zoned altitude training facility
South Pacific Health Clubs have launched the world’s first three-zoned altitude training facility at its St Kilda Sea Baths club in Melbourne.
The new Altitude88 training sessions are designed to promote weight loss, aerobic condition, agility, muscle development and tone. They also offer benefits including flexibility, core strength, relaxation and stress management.
The facility was installed by XTREME International, a global provider of simulated altitude technology for over 10 years. Designed and engineered in Australia, XTREME International partnered with dynamic training solutions provider Aktiv Solutions to deliver the installation.
On its website, South Pacific Health Clubs advise “training at altitude delivers a never experienced before new dimension to the sessions, providing you with the ability to achieve new heights and goals.
“For over 50 years, sports scientists and athletes have been experimenting and taking advantage of the performance benefits of real and simulated altitude training.
“The lower oxygen concentration in the altitude studios makes your body work harder without increasing your physical workload, making workout sessions more time effective – which, in turn, reduces strain on joints and muscles.
“Active sessions conducted in our three altitude studios will enhance the positive effects of physical exercise. Sessions can be from 30 to 60 minutes. Exercises in these sessions include light cardiovascular, functional body weight or resistance exercises.”
South Pacific Health Clubs operate five other facilities in Melbourne.
