Roundhouse venue reopens at UNSW Campus

Roundhouse venue reopens at UNSW Campus
March 7, 2018

Roundhouse on the University of New South Wales (UNSW) Kensington campus has officially reopened after extensive refurbishments.

The venue is capable of hosting conferences, dinners and special events for up to 2,200 people throughout its 14 purpose-built rooms and spaces.

The interior has been completely stripped out and refitted over the past year, while the main entrance has been reoriented to allow easy access to the light rail line on Anzac Parade, due for completion in 2019.

Introducing the reborn venue, Jason Lyons, Roundhouse Head of Venue and Events explained “this is such an exciting time for us as we reopen the doors to our beloved venue.

“We have had overwhelming support from those in the industry.

“Organisers are always seeking a unique and flexible venue to run events that delight delegates and Roundhouse offers exactly that. The beauty of the new venue is that it maintains its ability to host the concerts and gigs we’re best known for, while the upgraded facilities and finishing is attractive to corporate and association clients looking for an all-in-one space for conferences and business events.”

The Roundhouse features a large, round main room capable of hosting up to 1,000 delegates; the addition of eight multifunctional breakout spaces with capacity for up to 270; and a selection of networking areas including two bars and an outdoor beer garden.

Key interior features now include the round skylight in the centre of the venue; a parquetry dancefloor; and Australian spotted gum wood panelling throughout the mezzanine balcony, foyers and bars. Roundhouse has also invested significantly in its audio-visual equipment, with a flown PA system, an innovative modular stage, and new lighting truss.
