Ready Steady Go Kids introduces new fitness programs in Southern Queensland
Pre-schoolers in the Southern Queensland towns of Oxley and Tennyson are set for a fun-filled year with the commencement of a new Ready Steady Go Kids program.
Local residents Keryn Rigg and Lynsey Vinen are the latest franchisees to join Ready Steady Go Kids; a fun, physiotherapist designed multi-sport and exercise program for children aged two-and-a-half to six years old.
The pair hope to use their passion for sport to teach local children new skills and build confidence for life, while encouraging positive attitudes towards exercise.
Vinen was inspired to start her own franchise in Oxley after her child; three-year-old Tilly recently participated in a similar type of program in NSW.
After searching the greater Brisbane area for a multi-sports program for her daughter and not being satisfied with her choices, she looked into a Ready Steady Go Kids franchise.
Having worked in the fitness industry for several years and with a degree in Sports Science (Pshycology)and Nursing, Vinen explains “I love the structure of the Ready Steady Go Kids program exposing children to a variety of sports. It will keep the kids engaged and interested by changing the sports every two weeks. I am excited to start it in the Oxley area. ”
Her business partner and fellow coach is qualified physiotherapist Keryn Rigg - who also teaches diving.
Rigg is committed to the concept of Ready Steady Go Kids, stating “it’s a fun way to develop gross motor and sports specific skills in young children.
“For me personally it is a great way to use my physio and coaching skills and allows me to follow my passion for sport”.
Ready Steady Go Kids is specially designed to suit pre-schoolers’ developmental needs, teaching them the essentials of ten different sports in a fun, team-based environment. It allows children to try new activities, promotes self-esteem and fosters happy, healthy lifestyles.
Ready Steady Go Kids Director, Stuart Derbyshire adds “we are thrilled to have Keryn and Lynsey on board.
“Their enthusiasm for health and fitness and desire to help children develop fundamental social skills makes them a perfect fit for our team. I am confident Keryn and Lynsey will be fantastic coaches who will encourage kids to value sports as much as they do.”
Vinen and Rigg hope their business will become a hub for the Greater Oxley community, bringing children, parents, family and friends together through physical activity.
The new Ready Steady Go Kids Classes are being run at the Queensland Tennis Centre and the Oxley State School.
