Racism is a coward’s game that has no place on New Zealand's sporting fields according to Race Relations Commissioner Dame Susan Devoy.

Dame Susan recently stated "whether it’s the Super Rugby final or a schoolboy 1st XV game: racism is a coward’s game that has no place in New Zealand sport.

“Good on Crusader Nemani Nadolo for calling out racist abuse he’s faced: the rest of us need to back our sportsmen, women and kids by condemning racism when and where we see it.”

“Playing international sport is tough enough without having to contend with racist abuse as well.”

According to a 2010 report from the University of Waikato, New Zealand sport is "some way from effectively engaging with entrenched but disavowed racist attitudes."
