QC Club has been Brisbane’s premier place for lovers of sport to gather for more than 50 years; and recently it has expanded to become the Club of choice for people interested in premium dining, events and networking opportunities.
While the Club’s offerings have expanded, the discrepancy between new memberships and seat-filling game days, and the rising operating costs has made it necessary to expand on other business aspects – in particular, private events – to ensure the Club continues to go from strength to strength.
The design overhaul will see the entire Club – currently separated into two rooms – transformed into one 480sqm, open-plan space. The large bar in the centre of the main room will be moved to create a dramatically more open area and ensure that members and guests will enjoy a spectacular, uninterrupted view of the stadium from everywhere inside in the Club.
With a total indoor capacity of 550 (more than double the current allowance), QC Club will be the ideal destination for large-scale and high-profile events in the same vein as Leo Sayer’s live show on the Gabba grounds last November.
And, with the option to separate the space into three rooms via partitioned walls that tuck away into hidden cabinets, the new-look QC Club will also look to host corporate and private functions.
Members and guests will still enjoy premium dining for lunch and dinner, as well as the bar for game days or to relax with a drink any time.
The renovation and interior design will be executed by Intermain Pty Ltd. The fresh new look will mix luxury furnishings and an art deco vibe with a contemporary palette to ensure a versatile space.
QC Club Chief Executive Lachlan Furnell is excited to see the new-look QLD Cricketers’ Club take shape, stating “this refurbishment will bring the Club in line with our vision to see it cemented as one of Brisbane’s most unique and iconic event destinations, as well as a great place for members and friends to catch up and see a game, as always – ensuring the Club continues to thrive.”
Work will commence on 21st January, and the first stage of the redesign is scheduled to be completed ahead of Adele’s concert at the Gabba on 4th March; and with all works to be completed in time for the Brisbane Lions v Essendon AFL match on 1st April.
