QTIC welcomes continuity of Queensland Government

QTIC welcomes continuity of Queensland Government
December 8, 2017

With the result of the Queensland election confirmed, the Queensland Tourism Industry Council (QTIC) has welcomed the continuity of the new Queensland Government led by Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk.

QTIC has advised that it has worked hard to form constructive working relationships with key Ministers across the Premier Palaszczuk-led Queensland Government and will continue to voice the needs of industry effectively across all relevant forums.

A statement from QTIC advised that the organisation “will be in touch with all ministers and members of parliament who will shape the future policy environment for our industry as soon Premier Palaszczuk announces her cabinet.

“We have made clear to the Premier that we expect a senior cabinet Minister to be responsible for the tourism and events portfolio. We have also praised the performance of Kate Jones as Minister and would very much welcome her back in the role.

“We look forward to building on the foundations that have been set over the past three years and continuing our work to drive the sustainable growth of tourism across Queensland with a focus on the following priorities:

• Invest in innovation to drive business and product development
• Build business capability through industry-led programs
• Develop sustainable business opportunities through Queensland’s natural and cultural heritage
• Accelerate public investment in tourism infrastructure for jobs and economic growth
• Competitive investment in tourism for marketing and event attraction
• Maximise Queensland’s destination advantage
