read moreUS-based Planet Fitness, Inc., one of the largest and fastest-growing franchisors and operators of gyms in North America, has today confirmed its arrival in the Australian market.
Planet Fitness has signed an Area Development Agreement with Bravo Fit Holdings Pty Ltd. which intends to bring a minimum of 35 Planet Fitness locations to Australia over the next several years.
Bravo is a joint venture among USA-based franchisees, Bravo Fit, LLC and PF Growth Partners, LLC and leading Hunter Valley fitness operator, Dallas Rosekelly’s Galactic Fitness Pty.
Planet Fitness health clubs provide a welcoming and friendly environment where people can feel comfortable regardless of their fitness level.
As previously reported by Australasian Leisure Management, Australia’s first official Planet Fitness Clubs located in Tuggerah and Gosford on the NSW Central Coast, with a location in Casula is expected to open in 2020.
Commenting on the brand’s arrival in Australia, Ray Miolla, Planet Fitness’ Chief Development Officer, stated “we are excited to announce our plans to expand the Planet Fitness brand into Australia.
“Australia represents a unique opportunity to grow in a market that combines a favourable operational environment, consumer affinity for US brands, a desirable competitive landscape and an opportunity to develop a large fleet of clubs.”
Planet Fitness offers an affordable fitness experience including a variety of benefits such as a welcoming, judgement free environment, brand name cardio and strength equipment, fully equipped locker rooms, and is staffed 24 hours a day.
The Planet Fitness Black Card® membership includes additional perks, such as access to any club at no additional charge, the ability to bring a guest anytime, and additional amenities like unlimited use of massage chairs, private spray-tanning booths and HydroMassage beds.
Founded in 1992 in the US state of New Hampshire, as of 30th September, Planet Fitness had more than 14.1 million members and 1,899 stores in 50 US states as well as the District of Columbia (USA), Puerto Rico, Canada, the Dominican Republic, Panama and Mexico.
