Pioneering Electro Muscle Stimulation training technology now available in Australasia
August 5, 2019

miha bodytec, the German-based leader in Electro Muscle Stimulation (EMS) training, has announced Munich Sports Pty Ltd as the exclusive distributor of its award-winning products in Australia and New Zealand.

Originally developed to treat injuries during physical therapy, EMS training uses an electric current sent to muscles through wires to trigger involuntary muscles twitches.

Over the past dozen or so years, miha bodytec has been a leader in developing the technology for full-body workouts in commercial fitness environments, delivering a highly effective and time-efficient training method for increasing muscle strength and mass as well as for reducing body fat.

One of Europe’s fastest growing trends, there are now over 2,500 providers across Germany delivering exercise solutions to 250,000 people every week.

Announcing the new distribution of the German-engineered product in Australia, miha bodytec Chief Executive Juergen Decker advises “over the last 12 years we have created something we can look back on with pride. Our firm conviction that we can establish a completely new market with the EMS training method is pushing us tirelessly.

“Launching sales in the Australia marks another great milestone for all of us at the miha bodytec family worldwide.”
Explaining the benefits of EMS training, Munich Sports’ Conny Schuh official miha bodytec distributor for Australia and New Zealand, advises “EMS is a highly effective whole body training program that in a training time of less than 30 minutes per week can achieve a variety of muscular training goals.

“The combination of deliberate muscle tension, sport or everyday specific movements and - at the same time - activating all the major muscle groups creates a completely different stimulus. Training is therefore shorter and more intensive, while there is no impact on the joints.

“EMS might be a fairly new training method in Australia but it has been growing in Europe for more than 10 years and with a global distribution system in more than 30 countries, miha bodytec sets the gold standard for all professional EMS providers.”

With, Germany, like other nations, facing familiar issues with inactivity in its population, EMS traing has the potential to reach new demographics and groups of exercisers.

As Schuh comments “EMS training works beautifully for people who don’t like the typical gym environment. Sessions are always one-on-one or one-on-two, so the personal training aspect is appealing to people who find the gym floor or group exercise studio intimidating.

“Similarly, it’s a great form of exercise for unconditioned or sedentary people being low-impact and low-commitment.

“One, 20-minute session once per week is all that’s required for people to see results

“EMS can also be a great tool for recreational or elite athletes looking to gain an extra edge in their training. In fact, Usain Bolt was known to use this form of training before the Rio Olympics in 2016. Whether the sport of choice is tennis, golf, triathlon, running or football, EMS training can be effective for any type of athlete.

“A miha bodytec training device or EMS studio is also a great business opportunity for a personal trainer to be part of one of the top trends in the fitness industry, to increase their clientele or stand out of the crowd.”

Noting the support that the business offers its distributors, Helge Guetzlaff, Director International Business Development of miha bodytec, adds “as a partner to our clients, we stand for quality, short response times and constant availability of all components. We set standards in terms of service and support, know the demands of our commercial clients and therefore see ourselves as service providers.

“This is the reason why all relevant providers of EMS training worldwide trust in our company.”
