Melbourne Sports Hub has announced the appointment of Phil Meggs to the role of Chief Executive following an exhaustive executive recruitment process following the departure of former postholder Simon Weatherill.

Announcing the appointment, Gaye Hamilton, Chair of the Hub’s governing body, the Victorian State Sport Centres Trust stated "we are delighted to welcome a CEO of Phil’s calibre", says Gaye Hamilton, Chair of the Hub’s governing body, the State Sport Centres Trust.

"His extensive venue and event management, leadership and stakeholder management skills will be a huge asset to the business and ensure all of our venues will continue to operate to a high standard of excellence.

"On behalf of the Trust, I would also like to thank acting CEO Peter Murphy for his leadership during the time of change."

Welcoming his appointment, Meggs stated "I’m extremely excited to have been given this opportunity to work with the outstanding teams across all of the Melbourne Sports Hub venues," says Phil Meggs. "These are great facilities which we will continue to develop to ensure they are the best for everyone in the community, from general users to elite athletes.

"Health and wellness are a critical part of our community and we want to help every person reach their goals by encouraging and supporting participation."
