Partner sought for redevelopment of Auckland’s Parakai Springs

Partner sought for redevelopment of Auckland’s Parakai Springs
November 11, 2020

The owners of Auckland’s Parakai Springs have announced a long-term commercial opportunity to work in partnership with Te Poari o Kaipātiki ki Kaipara (Te Poari) to develop a unique thermal water offering in one of the fastest growing regions of the city, just 40 minutes from the CBD.

Inviting expressions of interest, Te Poari is looking for a development partner who shares their values and is excited by the opportunity to co-design and developed a sustainable and environmentally considerate aquatic, tourism and wellness business opportunity.

Te Awa Kahawai (the Parakai geothermal reservoir) is a relatively small, low temperature reservoir (23-65°C).

The current lease area is approximately 2.3 hectares and contains a variety of assets, including thermal pools; an office and administration block and changing rooms.

The EOI advises that additional land could be made available for the right offering.

With the current lease expiring in 2026, Te Poari suggest that development opportunities could include accommodation supporting the thermal attraction and recreation offerings of the Kaipara region to makes Kaipātiki a true destination.

Located at Kaipātiki (formerly known as the Parakai Recreation Reserve) in the township of Parakai in the South Kaipara region, the site is widely known as the Parakai Hot Springs .

Te Poari is a Co-Governance entity of Ngāti Whātua o Kaipara and Auckland Council formed as part of the Ngāti Whātua o Kaipara Claims Settlement Act 2013.
