read moreAs part of Australia’s Healthy Weight Week (being held form from 16th to 22nd February 2015), Parramatta City Council has launched its ‘Healthy Generations’ initiative.
Kicked off with a series of healthy eating cooking demonstrations in Centenary Square on Thursday (19th February), the initiative is being followed by a free eight-week boot camp that will run on the Parramatta River Foreshore.
The Healthy Generations boot camp will run at lunchtimes on each Tuesday and Thursday from Tuesday 24th February and is complemented by a children’s 12-week boot camp. With both sessions run by Rush Hour Australia, the children’s boot camp
costs $10 for each session, with all proceeds going to the Children’s Medical Research Centre.
Calling on the community to join the program and make the pledge to lead a healthier life, Parramatta Lord Mayor Scott Lloyd explained “this year Healthy Generations will focus on promoting simple goals and healthy habits.
“Whether it is finding new recipes to cook at home or exercising with friends at lunchtime, these simple measures can have a big impact on people’s health and well-being.
“I encourage everyone to come along, try some new exercise skills in what will be a fun and relaxed environment and get inspired with some tasty recipe ideas.
