Paris art museum to open in Singapore
Pinacothèque de Paris, the largest private art museum in the French capital, is set to open in its first location outside of Europe at the Fort Canning Park in Singapore.
With a permanent location set to open in 2015; a pop-up exhibition will open this September to give art lovers a taste of what is to come when Singapore Pinacothèque de Paris officially opens.
The museum is a known for its critically acclaimed exhibitions that celebrates transversality and the dialogue between different works of art, and will feature world-class exhibitions of master artists such as Vincent van Gogh, Claude Monet and Pablo Picasso, among others.
Singapore Pinacothèque de Paris will be led by Art Heritage Singapore (AHS), which aims to bring rarely accessible quality fine art to the region for locals and tourists alike.
AHS will be redeveloping the Fort Canning Centre with plans to complement the museum with retail and F&B spaces, including a museum shop.
Welcoming the opening, Singapore Tourism Board Chief Executive Lionel Yeo stated "the museum will be a compelling addition to our tourism landscape, and complements our existing visual arts offerings such as the Singapore Art Museum, Singapore Art Week and the upcoming National Art Gallery."
