Parrtjima - A Festival in Light received six awards, and BASSINTHEGRASS Music Festival received one.
Parrtjima was recognised as best overall Australian/Oceania Event (Platinum), best Outdoor Event (Gold), best Public Event (Gold), best Cross-Channel Storytelling (Gold), best Cultural Event (Bronze) and best PR Campaign (Bronze).
BASSINTHEGRASS was awarded best Music Event (Gold).
It is another win for Parrtjima, which received the Best Regional Event and Best Achievement in Marketing or Communications Awards at the 2021 Australian Event Awards.
Both events are huge economic drivers for the Territory, with Parrtjima – A Festival in Light 2021 generating a Total Expenditure Stimulus of more than $11.5 million for the economy. Almost $10 million of this was new money to the region.
BASSINTHEGRASS 2021 generated a Total Expenditure Stimulus of $14.5 million for the Territory economy, $12 million of which was new money. It also attracted a record crowd of 14,000 during a time when events around the world were being cancelled.
Northern Territory Minister for Major Events, Natasha Fyles notes “The Territory knows how to draw crowds from right around the globe to our events - and these awards are testament to that.
“Both Parrtjima and BASSINTHEGRASS are staples on the Territory’s events calendar, and have continued to grow and develop over the last few years, despite the challenges posed by COVID-19.
“In 2021 these two events alone delivered almost $22 million of new money into our economy. That is great news for local businesses and jobs, and the success continues this year, with Parrtjima 2022 already proving a hit in Alice Springs.
“The 2022 event took place in April and recorded more than 23,000 attendances, with hotels, hire cars and tourism experiences booked out. BASSINTHEGRASS 2022 will take place in just over two weeks, selling out at 16,000 tickets – we had to increase the number after a record 14,000 tickets sold out months in advance last year.”
Eventex Awards 2022 judges about Parrtjima added “The objective to create a true legacy was fulfilled. Impressive results. Made me want to go there myself.
“Rare combination of ancient culture and innovative techniques. Also of different art forms and sustainable marketing. I also like the combination of professional performance with a moment of fame for a gifted amateur.”
Founded in 2009 to celebrate creativity, innovation and effectiveness in the events industry, the Eventex Awards are highly prized across the international world of events, and recognise the best agencies, events and technology. This year there were 606 entries in the awards from 33 countries. To find out more visit eventex.co/winners/
