NRL’s Bulldogs part ways with Chief Executive Andrew Hill

NRL’s Bulldogs part ways with Chief Executive Andrew Hill

NRL club the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs have parted ways with Chief Executive Andrew Hill.

Hill's exit follows that of club Chair Lynn Anderson, board members Paul Dunn and John Ballesty and Head of Football Steve Price all moving on since the end of 2020, while former coach Dean Pay quit in July.

As reported by nrl.com, the club confirmed Hill's exit this afternoon after the decision was made on Monday evening.

Hill, who joined the club in 2017 having been Chief Executive of that year's Rugby League World Cup, had, according to nrl.com "overseen one of the most tumultuous periods in Canterbury's history".

The website added that he "spent three drama-filled years in the ... role as boardroom fighting and a salary cap crippled by back-ended deals consigned the Bulldogs to a lengthy rebuild.

"In that time the Bulldogs' salary cap was rebuilt amid constant front office dramas, with Anderson, Dunn and Ballesty all relinquished their positions to avoid an extraordinary general meeting being called."

Having previously worked at Parramatta, the GWS Giants and NRL, Hill said he was ready to move onto another role, with the administrator expected to be in high demand given his experience.

In a statement, he advised "I have enjoyed my time at the Bulldogs and after three years of service in the role the time is now right to look at my next challenge.

"I wish the club and team every success for the future."

Commenting on Hill's departure, Bulldogs Chairman, John Khoury stated "Andrew Hill has made a significant contribution to the Bulldogs over the past three years.

"He has strengthened all areas of the club and will leave us in a strong position for a new CEO to take over.

"We are appreciative of his professionalism in signalling this early enough for us to find a replacement in time for the start of the season."

Hill, was chosen for the role in 2017 after an original figure of over 2600 people applied for the position.

His past positions include those of General Manager Football at Parramatta Rugby League Club, in addition to the role of General Manager - League Integration and Development at the NRL, before taking on the role of Chief Executive of the upcoming World Cup. Hill, has also worked in AFL, as General Manager of Community and Game Development with the GWS Giants.

The club's Chief Financial Officer John White will take over Chief Executive duties in an interim capacity as Canterbury look to recruit a long-term replacement.
