Newly opened NSW trampoline park damaged by fire

Newly opened NSW trampoline park damaged by fire
February 6, 2014

A fire on Friday 31st January forced the temporary closure of the Flip Out Trampoline Arena in the Illawarra - just a week after its grand opening.

Located in Warrawong, the facility opened its doors on the Australia day weekend but, just seven days later, eight fire trucks were called to put out a fire at the business.

Fire and Rescue NSW Inspector Don Pescud said there was no structural damage caused by fire however there was considerable smoke damage throughout the building.

Inspector Pescud told the Illawarra Mercury that Fire and Rescue NSW and NSW Police are investigating the cause of the blaze.

While a growing number of trampoline centres are being opened across Australia, the FlipOut incident marks the third fire at a trampoline facility in the last seven months.

In July last year a facility in Richmond, NSW was the subject of an arson attack while in October, a welder ignited foam at a facility in south east Melbourne.
