read morePerth’s Outback Splash attraction has opened its new six-storey waterslide tower with multiple slides measuring almost half a kilometre in length.
Introducing the four new waterslides, Outback Splash Director, Paul Woodcock stated “we are proud to have added to our attractions, expanding the park’s appeal for visitors of all ages.
“We invite everyone out this summer to enjoy these amazing waterslides that are world-class, right here in Perth.”
Designed and constructed by Polin Waterparks and Swimplex Aquatics, with support from the WA Health Department, the new development includes two raft slides - ‘The Wall’ and ‘Blackout’, an enclosed golden speed slide called ‘Gold Rush’ and Western Australia’s fastest body slide, named ‘The Wedgie’, which sees riders plunge downward at speeds of up to 75km/h.
The new slide tower has been custom engineered with shade in mind. Towering more than 20 metres in the air, its solid roof has been designed to keep guests and the park’s crew in almost full shade all day.
The stairwell intertwines the tower itself, providing shade for riders on their ascent to the top. Shelter from the sun is also projected over the queuing area by a giant UV-rated shade sail.
Paul Woodcock, who owns the Bullsbrook business with Phil Dixon, commented “the water slide tower is the largest capital investment that our family has ever made.”
Dixon added that the facility offered a greater variety of experiences for a bigger demographic of visitors, with the older water slides more suited to families with children under 12.
Other upgrades at Perth’s Outback Splash include renovations to The Snack Shack kiosk, adding a large shaded outdoor seating area. Adjacent, new party cabanas are available for small-to-medium group bookings.
Looking ahead, the team at Perth’s Outback Splash are already planning the next instalment of further enhancements at the park with Woodcock advising that a pool and other upgrades to the park’s year-round attractions being considered.
With completion of the NorthLink duel carriageway (Tonkin Highway extension) this year, the attraction (previously ‘Outback Splash at The Maze’) is located only 30 minutes from central Perth.
At the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the tower on 19th November, attended by Woodcock, Dixon and Western Australian Tourism Minister Paul Papalia, Tourism Council of WA Chief Executive Evan Hall praised the owners’ “passion, patience and persistence” to create a new attraction in Perth, which he said would be popular with families as well as visitors to the state.
