New training course to educate professionals on crowd science
Having trained over 300 stakeholders from police, government, councils and venues, Secure Events and Assets is to offer a series of workshops on crowd management and understanding crowd behaviour across Australia and New Zealand during the month of July.
The workshops will set out to provide greater awareness of how individuals and crowds react, and behave, in places of public assembly and follow South Australia having led the way with approximately 100 various stakeholders being put through the workshops in 2018, with funding provided by local government.
Workshop details are:
Melbourne - 9th to 11th July 2019 in the CBD
Sydney - 23rd to 25th July 2019 at Sydney Olympic Park
Auckland - 29th to 31st July 2019
The workshop in New Zealand will also include elements of behavioural detection and observation provided by John Matus of Btaq Training)
All presenters are qualified in crowd management and have operational experience in the planning and management of crowds at major events, festivals, venues and crowded places.
They will bring experiences gained from the current threat environment faced by crowds as well as policing and crowd management with previous and current experience in Australasia and Europe at events such as Glastonbury, Isle of Wight Festivals, Olympics 2012, Commonwealth Games 2014, Splendour in the Grass, Falls Festival, New Year’s Eve Celebrations in Sydney and London, and Download in Australia.
The workshops will set out to explore the application of techniques and tools to enhance public safety and crowd management. They will provide attendees with current best practices from around the world with regards to crowd management planning and introduces the concepts that are used by practicing crowd managers.
It is designed for those who plan or manage the movement of people in sport, entertainment, shopping, transport, venues, greenfield sites or similar environments. It will benefit site or venue operational managers, stewarding and security organisations, police officers with crowd management responsibilities, architects working in the complex and built environment and local authority officers with licensing, planning, building control or leisure management responsibilities. Crowd Safety training delivers this and many other crowd related courses around the world.
Those who attend the workshops have the opportunity to obtain the Level 5 Diploma in Crowd Risk and Crowd Science is accredited through an international recognised awarding body - www.highfieldabc.com
