New levels of engagement anticipated for SportAccord 2018

New levels of engagement anticipated for SportAccord 2018
April 4, 2018

With record levels of engagement from key players drawn from more than 60 nations, SportAccord 2018 Bangkok is promising a host of opportunities for exhibitors, delegates, the sports community and industry.

Being held at Centara Grand & Bangkok Convention Centre from 15th to 20th April, the 16th edition of SportAccord includes five key conference streams including: The Summit, CityAccord, MediaAccord and the new streams of LawAccord and HealthAccord.

As the world’s premier and most exclusive annual event coverting the service of sport, SportAccord is focused on driving positive change internationally and dedicated to engaging and connecting; rights holders, organising committees, cities, press and media, businesses and other organisations involved in the development of sport.

New for 2018, HealthAccord joins the conference program with high-level representation from global health organisations and the academic world.

Also new to this year’s conference, LawAccord will host a city-themed session for delegates, providing a complete picture of contract negotiation for event owners and host cities.

In its pursuit to become the ‘Sports Dream Destination’, delegates will also have ample opportunity to experience the culture, hospitality and culinary delights Thailand has to offer, showcased in the Thai Pavilion.

On top of this, SportAccord will host a Sports Festival with many of the national federations taking part in sports demonstrations – open to citizens and delegates alike.

At MediaAccord, delegates will learn about future digital media opportunities and how they will be affecting every player involved in the business of sport.

In this year’s MediaAccord Interview: The Future of Media at Sports Events in a Digital World, delegates will hear first-hand from Anthony Edgar, Head of Media Operations and Olympic Information Service, International Olympic Committee (IOC).

As Edgar explains “the media is in a state of flux unlike anything it has seen since the inception of the television.

“Nowhere is this witnessed more than in the media coverage of major sporting events like the Olympic Games.

“My presentation will explore some of the most significant shifts impacting the media’s coverage of sport in a digital age, and what we can expect in the near future.”

Delegates will also learn about the latest in sports apps in the A is for APP - How (and why) to create a dynamic one for your Sport, in an interactive question and answer session with Motasem El Bawab, Digital Manager for world basketball governing body FIBA.

This session will provide insight on how they work, who they attract, what is possible, what they have to offer sport, athletes, fans, and also how they affect the bottom line.

MediaAccord will also host a panel session on Millennials and the Media. This audience represents the largest living generation and the most lucrative market worldwide with the greatest purchasing power.

The session will be made up of seasoned media representatives, along with millennials themselves – an athlete, a fan, and a journalist.About the SportAccord SportAccord brings together international sports federations and organisations involved in the business of sport.

SportAccord, the annual World Sport & Business Summit is a six-day event attended by leaders of the global sports community.
